Julia Kelly (Outstanding Leader)
Business Supervisor
Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Julia Kelly is a native of Pryor, Montana. She entered the Army in 1981 and completed Advance Individual Training at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama as an 89B (Ammunition Specialist). She retired October 2010 with 28 years of service.
She is currently pursuing education towards non-profit human resources and completing her business degree. She volunteers her time with many veteran organizations. She is a life time member of the Ordnance Corp Organization, Disabled American Veterans, The Society of the 1st Infantry Division, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She is the Business Supervisor for First Nations Women Warriors, a 501(c)(3) non-profit veterans organization. She was given her Apssaalooke name Baassaannee Xisssaa (Outstanding Leader)
Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Kelly has served in various ammunition, leadership, and special assignments throughout her career. Her assignments include: Ammunition Specialist, 34th Support Battalion, Ft Hood, TX; Ammunition Specialist and Ammunition Supply NCO, 193rd Support Battalion, Ft Clayton, Panama; Drill Sergeant, 832nd Ordnance Battalion, Redstone Arsenal, AL; Training Ammo NCOIC and Ammunition Inspector, DISCOM, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea; BNCOC, ANCOC, OBC, and Warrant Officer Instructor/Writer, Redstone Arsenal, AL; First Sergeant, 65th Ordnance Company, 6th Ordnance Battalion, Camp Page, Korea; Division Ammunition Office NCOIC, DISCOM, 3rd Infantry Division, Ft Stewart, GA; First Sergeant, 72nd Ordnance Company, 6th Ordnance Battalion, Camp Hialeah, Korea; Operations NCO, 125th Ordnance Battalion (AC/RC), Billings, Montana; Munitions Training Department Sergeant Major, 59th Ordnance Brigade, Redstone Arsenal, AL; Munitions Division Sergeant Major, 19th Support Center, 3rd COSCOM, Wiesbaden, Germany. She was the Command Sergeant Major for the 125th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division and the Command Sergeant Major for the 299th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Ft Riley Kansas.
She has two combat tours to Iraq: 05-06, 08-09.
Her award and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, MSMs, ARCOMs, AAMs, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal. She has been inducted into the coveted Ordnance “Order of the Samuel Sharpe”. She received the prestigious General Brehon B Somervell Medal of Excellence for multifunctional support.
Her military and civilian education includes: Equal Opportunity Course, Ammunition Inspector Course, Drill Sergeant Course, PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, and Sergeants Major Academy, Class 52. |
